Assassin's Creed Shadows: Free Updates and DLC Details Revealed

Ubisoft has revealed an exciting roadmap for the first year of post-launch content for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, promising a wealth of new features and updates to keep players engaged throughout 2025. In a concise yet informative four-and-a-half-minute video, Ubisoft laid out a detailed schedule, especially for May and June, aimed at enhancing the gaming experience with free updates.

The rollout of content kicks off in early May with "The Works of Luis Frois," the first of several free story add-ons. This update will also introduce a Codex update and various quality-of-life enhancements. Players can look forward to significant parkour additions and a photo mode update arriving in the following month. These updates are a direct response to community feedback, reflecting Ubisoft's commitment to listening and adapting to player needs.

"Your feedback has been a core focus of the team throughout development, and that’s not stopping now that Shadows is released," said community developer Daniel St. Germain in the video. He emphasized that regular title updates will bring impactful additions and changes, including bug fixes to refine the experience across all platforms.

In June, players can anticipate another free story drop, along with new difficulty settings, gameplay immersion options, an open-world alarm system, and the choice to keep headgear on or off during cutscenes. These updates are highly anticipated by the community, and Ubisoft has promised even more features like new game+ support, additional story content, and special collaborations before the year ends.

The highlight of the year is the first major DLC expansion, "Claws of Awaji," set to release later in 2025. This expansion will introduce new content such as the Bo staff weapon and a new region for characters Naoe and Yasuke to explore over a 10-hour journey. While pricing details remain undisclosed, the expansion will be free for those who pre-ordered Assassin’s Creed Shadows before its launch last month.
