Assassin's Creed Shadows' First DLC, "Claws of Awaji," Leaks on Steam

Details about the upcoming "Claws of Awaji" expansion for Assassin's Creed Shadows have reportedly surfaced via a now-removed Steam update, according to Insider Gaming. This first DLC for the highly anticipated title adds significant content, including a new region to explore, a fresh weapon type to master, and an array of new skills, gear, and abilities. The leak suggests players can expect over 10 hours of additional gameplay. Pre-ordering the game will reportedly grant access to both the Claws of Awaji DLC and a bonus mission.

Assassin's Creed Shadows, set in 16th-century feudal Japan, marks the franchise's debut in East Asia. Players control dual protagonists, the Samurai Yasuke and the Shinobi Naoe, navigating a turbulent historical period. The game's development has been challenging, facing setbacks including criticism over character design and multiple release date delays. The latest postponement moved the launch from February 14, 2025, to March 20, 2025.

The Steam leak emerged shortly after Ubisoft announced this latest delay, citing a need for further polishing and refinement. This news comes at a time of uncertainty for Ubisoft itself, with rumors of a potential Tencent takeover swirling amidst recent underperformance of several major titles.

This leak offers a glimpse into the substantial expansion planned for Assassin's Creed Shadows, further fueling anticipation for its eventual release.
