The Best Armored Core Games to Play Before Fires of Rubicon Comes Out

Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon is on the horizon, but what about the rest of the Armored Core franchise? This guide highlights the best Armored Core games to play before diving into the latest installment.

The Armored Core Legacy

FromSoftware, renowned for its Souls-like games, boasts a rich history with another iconic franchise: Armored Core. Spanning decades, this series centers on mech combat, pitting players as mercenaries in a post-apocalyptic world. Your goal? Complete missions for the highest bidder, whether it's eliminating rebels, scouting enemy bases, or securing valuable cargo. Success earns you funds for repairs and crucial mech upgrades. Fail, and the mission ends.

By 2013, the series comprised five main entries and numerous spin-offs, totaling sixteen games. The first two games share a continuity, while Armored Core 3, 4, and 5 each have their own separate storylines. Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon, launching August 25, 2023, will likely establish a new continuity. To prepare for this new chapter, Game8 recommends the following Armored Core games as the best starting points.
