Alienware's Area-51 Now Supports RTX 5090 Graphics Card

by Joshua May 26,2025

Dell has revitalized the iconic Alienware Area-51 series of prebuilt gaming PCs this year. Initially, configurations were limited to a single graphics card option—the RTX 5080. However, that has changed, and gamers now have the exciting opportunity to equip their Alienware Area-51 with an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K CPU and the highly anticipated Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 GPU, starting at an attractive price of $5,499.99. What's more, you won't have to wait long to get your hands on this powerhouse, as Dell promises an early April ship date.

New Release### Alienware Area-51 Intel Core Ultra 9 285K RTX 5090 Gaming PC (32GB/2TB)

1$5,499.99 at AlienwareThe $5,500 configuration may be considered the "base" for an Alienware Area-51 equipped with an RTX 5090 GPU, but at this price point, you can expect exceptional specifications—and this configuration does not disappoint. It features an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K CPU, 32GB of DDR5-6400MHz RAM, and a 2TB NVMe SSD. The Core Ultra 9 285K is Intel's latest flagship CPU, delivering outstanding performance for both gaming and workstation tasks. Although it doesn't provide the leap in performance we hoped for compared to the i9-14900K, it remains the best option from Intel at the moment. A massive 360mm all-in-one liquid cooler keeps the processor running smoothly, and the system is powered by a robust 1,500W 80Plus Platinum-rated power supply.

New for 2025: The Alienware Area-51 Chassis

Dell introduced the latest Alienware Area-51 gaming PC at CES 2025. The new chassis retains a similar aesthetic to the 2024 R16 system but features redesigns for both cooling and components. The I/O panel has been moved to the top of the case, and the tempered glass window now covers the entire side panel, eliminating the need for side panel vents. Instead, air intakes are strategically placed at the bottom and front of the case, promoting a positive airflow design that helps keep the system's interior less dusty. The internal components have been upgraded with a new motherboard, faster RAM, and a more powerful power supply to support the latest generation of CPUs and GPUs.

The RTX 5090 Is the Most Powerful Graphics Card Ever

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 stands as the most powerful consumer GPU currently available. Nvidia has enhanced the gaming experience with software updates, AI features, and DLSS 4 technology, yet the 5090 still offers a significant 25%-30% increase in pure hardware-based raster performance over the RTX 4090. Additionally, it comes with more (32GB vs 24GB) and faster (GDDR7 vs GDDR6) VRAM. Due to high demand, finding the RTX 5090 at retail prices is challenging, with units on eBay selling for between $3,500 and $4,000.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 FE Review by Jackie Thomas**

"The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 has officially dethroned the RTX 4090 in terms of performance, though the generational leap is smaller than in previous iterations. In traditional non-AI gaming, the RTX 5090's uplift is one of the smallest we've seen recently. However, in games that support DLSS 4, the performance boost is significant—albeit with the caveat that 75% of the frames are AI-generated."
