Alien: Earth Premiere, Episodes, and Plot Details

by Madison Dec 05,2025

Alien: Earth debuts its first two episodes on August 12 on Hulu at 8 PM ET, with international broadcasts on FX and Disney+ at 8 PM PT/ET. New installments of the eight-episode season will be released every Tuesday.

Set in 2120—well after the events of Prometheus and just two years before the original Alien—Noah Hawley's Alien: Earth follows the deep space research vessel USCSS Maginot as it crash-lands on Earth. A young woman named Wendy (Sydney Chandler) and a makeshift team of tactical soldiers uncover a fateful discovery that brings them face-to-face with the planet’s most terrifying threat.

For context, the recently released interquel Alien: Romulus is set between the original Alien and Aliens.

At this point in the Alien timeline, Earth is governed by five major corporations: Weyland-Yutani (the franchise's infamous conglomerate), Prodigy, Lynch, Dynamic, and Threshold. Cyborgs and synthetics live alongside humans, until Prodigy's CEO introduces hybrids—humanoid robots implanted with human consciousness. Wendy serves as the first hybrid prototype, reflecting the franchise’s recurring theme of the quest for immortality.

An intriguing detail emerges: after a Weyland-Yutani spaceship collides with Prodigy City, Wendy and the other hybrids confront mysterious life forms "more terrifying than anyone could have ever imagined."

This suggests the series may feature creatures beyond the classic Xenomorph—or potentially new Xenomorph variants. Reports indicate a total of five different types.

Here is the official synopsis:

In the year 2120, Earth is ruled by five corporations: Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic, and Threshold. In this Corporate Era, cyborgs and synthetics coexist with humans. The game changes when Prodigy's visionary Founder and CEO develops a new technology: hybrids—humanoid robots integrated with human consciousness. The first prototype, "Wendy," marks a breakthrough in the pursuit of immortality. After Weyland-Yutani’s spacecraft crashes into Prodigy City, Wendy and the other hybrids encounter mysterious life forms more horrifying than anyone ever imagined.

Last January, showrunner Noah Hawley explained why he chose not to incorporate the Prometheus backstory into Alien: Earth, stating his preference for the "retro-futurism" of the original films. Hawley mentioned discussing numerous aspects of the Alien universe with Ridley Scott, including its connections to the prequels, but ultimately decided to move away from the bioweapon origin in favor of the original film's mythology.

It's an active period for the Alien franchise. A sequel to Alien: Romulus is in development, and the series appears to be crossing over once more with the Predator franchise in the upcoming Predator: Badlands.
