Netflix Unveils First MMO: Spirit Crossing Launching Soon
Netflix is venturing into the exciting world of MMOs with Spirit Crossing, a cozy life-sim game developed by Spry Fox, announced at GDC 2025. If you're familiar with Spry Fox's previous titles like Cozy Grove and Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit, you can anticipate the game's enchanting pastel visuals, soothing music, and a strong focus on fostering connections rather than competition.
Here’s What We Know About Netflix Spirit Crossing
In Spirit Crossing, players will dive into a vast world where they can build and decorate homes, and cultivate a thriving village alongside others. Activities include gathering resources, riding on adorable fluffy creatures, joining dance parties, and simply enjoying the company of friends.
The game's visual style draws inspiration from Studio Ghibli, French comics, and even incorporates elements of modern art like Corporate Memphis. This blend aims to create a timeless and inviting atmosphere, encouraging players to settle in for the long haul.
A unique feature of Spirit Crossing is its in-game calendar system, which influences progression. For instance, trees you plant will take three to six real-world months to mature into a harvestable orchard. This slow-paced, long-term design echoes Spry Fox's approach in Cozy Grove.
The game emphasizes forming meaningful connections, a core element of Spry Fox's design philosophy. Studio co-founder David Edery has expressed his vision for Spirit Crossing to be a space where strangers can become friends.
Netflix has released a trailer for Spirit Crossing, showcasing its charm and allure. You can watch it below to get a glimpse of what's in store.
Sign Up for the Closed Alpha
Currently, Netflix and Spry Fox are inviting players to participate in a closed alpha test for Spirit Crossing. If you're eager to experience the game early, you can sign up on the official closed alpha test page.
Spirit Crossing is set to launch later this year. In the meantime, don't miss our next feature on The Great Sneeze, which transforms classic art into a playful puzzle adventure, available now.
