Concord: A Hero Shooter Roadmap and Gameplay Tips

Concord Season 1 Launches October 2024

Sony and Firewalk Studios have unveiled Concord's post-launch content roadmap, just ahead of the game's August 23rd release on PS5 and PC. This follows a successful open beta. The developers emphasize a commitment to ongoing updates and a unique approach to gameplay.

No Battle Pass Required

Concord Season 1 Launches October 2024

Unlike many hero shooters, Concord will not feature a battle pass. Firewalk Studios prioritizes a rewarding base game experience, with meaningful rewards earned through gameplay, character progression, and objective completion. The focus is on creating a rich and satisfying experience from day one.

Season 1: The Tempest – Arriving in October

Concord Season 1 Launches October 2024

Concord's first major update, Season 1: The Tempest, launches in October. Expect a new playable Freegunner character, a fresh map, new Freegunner Variants, and a host of cosmetic items and rewards. Weekly Cinematic Vignettes will also enrich the game's narrative, expanding upon the Northstar crew's story.

In-Game Store Debuts in Season 1

An in-game store will open its doors during Season 1, offering purely cosmetic customization options. These additions will complement the extensive rewards available through regular gameplay, ensuring no gameplay advantage is gained through purchases.

Season 2 and Beyond

Season 2 is already planned for January 2025, with Firewalk Studios promising a consistent stream of seasonal content throughout Concord's first year.

Mastering Concord: Gameplay Strategies

Concord Season 1 Launches October 2024

Game director Ryan Ellis offers insight into optimal Concord gameplay, emphasizing the strategic "Crew Builder" system. Players assemble teams of five Freegunners, allowing up to three duplicates of a Freegunner's Variants. This enables customized team compositions tailored to individual playstyles and match challenges.

The six Freegunner roles—Anchor, Breacher, Haunt, Ranger, Tactician, and Warden—are designed to encourage diverse team compositions. Each Freegunner excels in combat, unlike traditional roles like Tank or Support. Combining Freegunners from different roles unlocks Crew Bonuses, offering benefits such as increased mobility, reduced cooldowns, and improved weapon recoil.
