Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom to Support Cloud Saves

Nintendo has confirmed that the Nintendo Switch 2 version of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will indeed support cloud saves, alleviating earlier concerns among fans. Initially, there was uncertainty when Nintendo's official pages for the game's Switch 2 edition included a disclaimer stating that it did not support the Nintendo Switch Online paid membership’s Save Data Cloud backup feature. This sparked worries, as reported by IGN, that some games, including Tears of the Kingdom, might not offer this functionality.

However, Nintendo has since updated its website to clarify the situation. The revised disclaimer now reads, "Save data created in the second save data slot in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition cannot be transferred to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on Nintendo Switch." This update suggests that players will be able to transfer their existing Switch 1 saves to the new Switch 2, but transferring saves from the Switch 2 back to the original system will not be possible. This change should provide reassurance to Switch 2 owners who were concerned about the continuity of their game progress. The same transfer policy applies to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, indicating a consistent approach to save data management across these titles.

Meanwhile, the page for Donkey Kong Bananza has removed all references to cloud saves, leaving its save data policy unclear.
