Yakuza Pirate Sets Sail for Epic Adventure!
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii: A Blend of Serious Drama and Hilarious Mayhem
RGG Studio promises a unique mix of intense drama and over-the-top comedy in their upcoming title, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. Get ready for an adventure unlike any other! This installment features a "serious" Majima.
A Manly Drama with a Touch of Madness
While the Like a Dragon series is renowned for its humor, RGG Studio director Masayoshi Yokoyama reveals a different side to Majima in this iteration. He'll adopt a more serious demeanor, particularly at the story's outset.
Producer Ryosuke Horii expands on this, highlighting the "manly drama" at the heart of the game. Majima's passionate pursuit of his goals and the bonds he forges during his wild journey are central to the narrative. Horii emphasizes that while the game includes its share of comedic detours, the core is a compelling story of a driven individual. "The goofing off isn't the main point – there's a manly drama at the center of things," he states. "Of course, there are some crazy parts to take detours to, but overall, I think it’s a straightforward tale about a passionate man."
Horii further explains that Majima possesses a unique quality absent in long-time protagonist Kazuma Kiryu, making him the ideal lead for this particular adventure. The team aimed for a balance between the pirate theme, Majima's personality, and the overall "Ryu ga Gotoku" feel, acknowledging the challenge in achieving this equilibrium. The result promises a thrilling experience that avoids predictability.
The developers sought to strike a balance between realism and extravagance, ensuring the gameplay remains engaging and exciting without sacrificing narrative depth. The aim was to create a "wilder" experience while maintaining a serious and impactful storyline.
Majima's Maji Festival: A Celebratory Tour
To celebrate the game's launch, RGG Studio is hosting Majima's Maji Festival, a special event spanning six Japanese cities. The tour, which began in Sapporo on December 1st, 2024, concludes in Nagoya (January 18th) and Tokyo (January 25th).
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, starring the iconic "Mad Dog of Shimano," Goro Majima, offers a unique blend of action-packed combat, thrilling naval battles, a vibrant cast of characters, and a captivating story. Prepare for a one-of-a-kind modern-day pirate adventure!
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii launches on February 21st for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.
