Take-Two CEO Optimistic About Nintendo Switch 2

by Penelope May 20,2025

With the Nintendo Switch 2 set to launch in less than a month, amidst various concerns over pricing, tariffs, and game key cards, one third-party publisher is expressing high hopes for the new console: Take-Two Interactive.

During a Q&A session with investors following the company's full-year earnings report, Take-Two's CEO, Strauss Zelnick, shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming platform. He stated that the company is planning to release four titles for the Nintendo Switch 2, marking a more substantial launch lineup than with any previous Nintendo console. Zelnick highlighted Nintendo's improved support for third-party publishers, saying:

"We're launching four titles with Nintendo Switch 2, and that's I think a bigger array of releases than we've ever offered before with a new Nintendo platform. Historically, being a third party in the Nintendo business has been a bit challenging. I think Nintendo has been very forthcoming in addressing that. And we're stepping up too, because we have great optimism for the platform. In terms of what we would bring to any platform, we address it on a case-by-case basis, we obviously want to be where the consumers are. But we would not necessarily bring every title to every platform. There are also great catalog opportunities as well."

The titles Take-Two is bringing to the Nintendo Switch 2 include Civilization 7 (launching on June 5, coinciding with the console's release), the NBA 2K and WWE 2K series (specific titles and release dates yet to be announced), and Borderlands 4 (set for September 12). While these choices align with Take-Two's existing portfolio on the original Nintendo Switch, Zelnick's comments suggest that the door may be open for additional releases, particularly from the company's extensive back catalog. Although GTA 6 seems unlikely to make an appearance, there's potential for classics like GTA V to eventually join the lineup.

In an exclusive interview with Zelnick prior to the investor call, we delved into the company's performance over the quarter and discussed the development timeline for GTA 6, as well as Zelnick's thoughts on its recent delay to next year.
