Squad Busters 2.0 Lands on Android Before First Anniversary!

Squad Busters is celebrating its first anniversary with the release of its monumental update, version 2.0, set to launch on May 13th. Since its debut in 2024, the game has struggled to capture the massive following that Supercell had hoped for. With this significant update, could the tides be turning for Squad Busters?

This Isn’t Just a Tweak or Two

Squad Busters 2.0 represents a comprehensive overhaul, akin to a reboot. The gameplay is undergoing a complete transformation, affecting everything from battle mechanics to victory conditions.

The most notable change is the introduction of Heroes. Players will now select a Hero to lead their squad into battle. These Heroes are inspired by existing characters, and if your Hero falls, it's game over. This adds a strategic layer to the gameplay, making your choice of Hero crucial.

Combat dynamics are also evolving. The new system allows players to attack without halting movement, integrating movement and combat into a seamless, fast-paced experience. This shift promises to make matches more intense and action-packed.

Victory conditions have shifted as well. Instead of eliminating all opponents, players now only need to defeat the enemy Hero to win. While this change aims to streamline gameplay, some fans are concerned it might make Squad Busters feel too similar to Brawl Stars.

Squad Busters 2.0 Is Dumping a Lot of Old Features

To make room for these new elements, several existing modes are being removed, including Doppelgangers, Double Trouble, Epic Overload, Loot Machines, and Hatchling Herder. Additionally, certain skins and progression systems are being phased out. Supercell is compensating players with Hero Points and other in-game items to soften the blow.

It's clear why Supercell is pushing for these rapid changes. Squad Busters hasn't yet achieved the widespread acclaim of titles like Clash of Clans or Brawl Stars.

With the first anniversary approaching on May 29th, Supercell is making a bold move to rekindle player interest. To celebrate, they're launching daily piñata events, offering opportunities to unlock a new Hero, Mortis.
