Mastering Demon's Hand: A Guide to Playing the Card Game in League of Legends

by Logan May 12,2025

*League of Legends* has introduced an exciting new minigame called Demon’s Hand in its client, available until the end of April. If you're familiar with *Balatro*, you'll find the gameplay of Demon’s Hand quite intuitive. This guide will walk you through setting up and mastering this engaging card game within *League of Legends*.

League of Legends Demon’s Hand Set-Up and Getting Started

To dive into Demon’s Hand, ensure your *League* client is updated to the latest version. Once updated, click the Play button to navigate to the game type menu and select Demon’s Hand. You'll be introduced to the game's story, then directly into your first round of the card game.

On your screen, your hand is displayed along the bottom row of cards. In the bottom right corner, you'll see your health, coins, and percentage crit chance. Just above, there's a Sigil box where you can have up to six Sigils active at once, though you start with none. Note that your health doesn't automatically restore after battles; instead, visit tent locations on the map to recover a percentage of your health when possible.

The enemy card is at the top of the screen, with its health shown in the bottom right and damage in the bottom left. To the left of the enemy card, an attack coin indicates how many hands you can play before the enemy attacks. On the left edge of the screen, there's a book that lists all the hands you can play as attacks and their base damage in a standard round.

In Demon’s Hand, you deal damage by playing poker hands, albeit with unique names. The goal is to form the highest-value hands to maximize damage. The ultimate hand is The Demon’s Hand, equivalent to a royal flush. Below is a list of hands you can play, along with their poker terminology and base damage:

  • Solo = High Card (10 Base Damage)
  • Dyad = Pair (20 Base Damage)
  • Dyad Set = Two Pair (40 Base Damage)
  • Triad = Three of a Kind (80 Base Damage)
  • Tetrad = Four of a Kind (100 Base Damage)
  • March = Straight (125 Base Damage)
  • Horde = Flush (175 Base Damage)
  • Grand Warhost = Full House (400 Base Damage)
  • Marching Horde = Straight Flush (600 Base Damage)
  • The Demon’s Hand = Royal Flush (2000 Base Damage)

The base damage of each hand is augmented by the numerical value of the cards played. If an enemy has a special ability that negates a specific suit, those cards will be crossed out. You can still use them in your hand, but their numerical value won't contribute to the total damage.

Spice Up Your Attacks with Sigils

Sigils add another layer of strategy to Demon’s Hand. These are acquired during store phases, indicated by coins on the map. You earn coins by defeating enemies, which you can then spend to buy Sigils. Each Sigil offers a unique ability, viewable by hovering over them in the store or during a round. Some Sigils enhance specific hands, like boosting the damage of Dyads, while others might grant additional turns before the enemy attacks or reduce incoming damage.

That's a comprehensive guide on how to play the Demon’s Hand card game in *League of Legends*. If this minigame isn't your cup of tea, keep an eye out for the upcoming April Fools skins to enhance your experience on Summoner’s Rift.
