Mass Effect Voice Actress Wants Original Cast to Return for TV Series

Mass Effect's Jennifer Hale Hopes for Original Cast Reunion in Amazon Series

Jennifer Hale, the iconic voice of FemShep in the original Mass Effect trilogy, expressed her excitement for Amazon's upcoming live-action adaptation. She enthusiastically stated her desire to participate in the series, and further emphasized the value of reuniting as much of the original voice cast as possible.

Amazon secured the rights to adapt the Mass Effect games in 2021, and the TV series is now under development at Amazon MGM Studios. The project boasts an impressive team, including Michael Gamble (Mass Effect game project leader), Karim Zreik (former Marvel Television producer), Avi Arad (movie producer), and Daniel Casey (Fast & Furious 9 writer).

The challenge of adapting Mass Effect's unique narrative structure—branching storylines, player choices impacting character fates, and a fully customizable protagonist—presents significant casting hurdles. Each player has their own envisioned Commander Shepard, potentially clashing with the show's depiction.

In a recent Eurogamer interview, Hale, whose extensive voice acting credits include the female Commander Shepard, voiced her keen interest in contributing to the new series. She championed the inclusion of the original voice cast, highlighting their exceptional talent: "The voice acting community are some of the most brilliant performers I've ever met […] So I'm ready for the smart production company that stops overlooking that gold mine.”

Hale naturally favors a live-action portrayal of the FemShep she originated, but expressed openness to any role. She also indicated her enthusiasm to return for future Mass Effect video game installments.

A Treat for Longtime Fans

The Mass Effect universe boasts a memorable ensemble of heroes and villains, brought to life by a talented cast of voice actors and celebrities. The return of actors like Brandon Keener (Garrus Vakarian), Raphael Sbarge (Kaidan Alenko), or even Hale herself would undoubtedly delight long-time fans of the series.
