MageTrain: Fast-Paced Pixel Roguelike Now on Android

Tidepool Games has launched an exciting, fast-paced pixel art roguelike for Android titled *MageTrain*. The game blends elements of classic Snake mechanics with auto-battler strategy and roguelike progression.

What’s MageTrain Like?

In *MageTrain*, you command a chain of heroes that trail behind your lead character—just like the iconic Snake mechanic. Each hero in your train attacks autonomously as you maneuver through a dynamic arena. Your main objective is to skillfully guide the group, manage positioning, and avoid collisions with enemies or obstacles.

The strategic depth comes from assigning the right hero to the right spot. Hero abilities shift depending on whether they're leading the pack or supporting from behind. At launch, there are nine distinct heroes available—one of whom hurls birds—and each brings unique skills to the battlefield.

As you play, you’ll journey through eight diverse dungeons, battle 28 different enemy types, and unlock 30 powerful skills to enhance your team's performance. Along the way, you'll gather gold and power-ups to strengthen your run.

Thanks to its roguelike design, no two runs are alike. You’ll navigate branching paths, choose from various upgrades, and aim to survive as long as possible. There are no fixed levels and no save points—if you fail, you start over from the beginning. This structure is reminiscent of games like *Slay the Spire* and *FTL*, offering a rewarding challenge with every attempt.

One of *MageTrain*'s strongest features is its momentum-driven gameplay. Even when you lose, each run feels meaningful as you learn new strategies and improve your decision-making.
