Japanese Switch 2 Priced Lower than Global Version

by Aiden May 07,2025

The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch with different pricing strategies in Japan and globally, offering two distinct versions of the system. The Japanese-language version, exclusively available in Japan, will be priced at approximately $330. In contrast, the Multi-Language System version, which will be available worldwide, will cost $449.99. This significant price difference of over $100 can be attributed to the current weakness of the yen against the US dollar, which impacts the purchasing power of tourists in Japan.

Residents of Japan have the option to purchase either version, but the Japanese-language system is restricted to those with a Nintendo Account set to Japan. This version supports only the Japanese language and is limited to software available on the Japanese Nintendo eShop. For those interested in using the Switch 2 in multiple languages, Nintendo recommends opting for the Multi-Language System version. Further details about this version will be disclosed on April 4.
