League of Legends Hextech Chest Brought Back After Fan Feedback

League of Legends is responding to player feedback by reintroducing Hextech Chests. Dive into the details of the upcoming updates and what's on the horizon for LoL.

League of Legends Reverses Unpopular Changes

Hextech Chests Make a Comeback

League of Legends (LoL) is bringing back Hextech Chests following community outcry. Riot Games announced this decision in a developer update on their website dated February 27, 2025, complemented by a video on their YouTube channel. The developers acknowledged that recent changes hadn't resonated well with players, stating, "Recently, we’ve made a number of changes that didn’t hit the mark for everyone. We’ve been listening to your feedback, and it’s clear that there are areas where we need to adjust."

Hextech Chests, a beloved feature, were missed by the community. Riot Games admitted, "It’s clear that for many of you, Hextech Chests weren’t just a way to get stuff, they were an important part of making your time in League feel rewarding. We didn’t fully grasp how much this mattered to you, and that led us to make changes that missed the mark."

Starting with patch 25.05, Hextech Chests will return, allowing players to earn up to 10 chests and keys per act. Eight of these will be available through the free pass, with an additional two obtainable via the Honor system.

Exalted Mordekaiser Delayed and Further Fan Feedback Responses

Riot Games also announced a delay for the Exalted Mordekaiser skin, aiming to "take more time to make sure it better delivers on its core fantasy." The entire Exalted skin line will see delays, meaning fans won't see a new skin in every Act this year as initially planned.

In response to additional community feedback, LoL will replace one non-Prestige skin with 25 Mythic Essence, addressing concerns about the scarcity of Mythic Essence on the paid Pass and the overabundance of champion skins for seasonal themes.

Recognizing the importance of accessibility, LoL will reduce the Blue Essence cost for all champions by 50% starting with patch 25.05. Additionally, Riot Games has decided to revert their plan to reduce the frequency of Clash events, instead reinstating a monthly schedule. The March Clash event will feature ARURF, followed by a standard Summoner's Rift Clash in April.

Blue Essence Emporium and Your Shop Return

Responding to popular demand, LoL will bring back the Blue Essence Emporium and Your Shop. Your Shop is scheduled for patch 25.06, and the Emporium will follow in patch 25.07.

Riot Games emphasized their commitment to ongoing improvement, stating, "We know getting League to the right place isn’t about just one set of changes. It’s about continually refining and improving the game in ways that make it better. We think today’s updates are an important step, and we’ll keep tracking how these changes feel, talking with all of you about how things are landing, and making adjustments."

With these responsive changes, Riot Games continues to show their dedication to listening to their community, striving to create an optimal gaming experience. League of Legends remains free-to-play on PC. Stay updated with the latest on our League of Legends page.
