Nightmare Crownless, a powerful Nightmare Echo in Honkai: Star Rail's Wuthering Waves expansion, boasts increased Havoc and Basic Attack DMG. This guide details how to unlock it. Unlike standard Echoes, Nightmare Crownless requires completing a specific quest and an additional step.

Obtaining Nightmare Crownless: A Step-by-Step Guide

This process involves two main stages: completing the "Ruins Where Shadows Roam" quest and locating all four Dream Patrols.

1. Completing "Ruins Where Shadows Roam":

This quest isn't initiated through an NPC. Instead:

• Open your map.
• Locate the compass icon in the upper-left corner (next to your current location).
• Access the Exploration Progress menu for the Penitent's End region in Rinascita.
• The "Ruins Where Shadows Roam" quest will be listed there.

2. "Quest of Faith" (Optional, but Recommended):

"Ruins Where Shadows Roam" is closely tied to the optional "Quest of Faith." To start this:

• Go to the Resonance Beacon across the broken bridge in Wailing Ascent.
• Interact with the prompt near the circular arena beside the beacon.
• This initiates a battle against a Questless Knight.

Defeating the Knight requires strategy:

• Lure the knight near a lit Macabre Torch within the arena.
• Reignite extinguished torches by using Fae Ignis enemies to strike them.
• Avoid using high-damage skills near the torches to prevent extinguishing them.

3. Locating the Dream Patrols:

After completing "Ruins Where Shadows Roam" (and optionally "Quest of Faith"), locate all four Dream Patrols in Penitent's End. While defeating them isn't mandatory for unlocking Nightmare Crownless, completing them provides additional resources and Monnaie. The image above shows their locations.

Once all four Dream Patrols are found, Nightmare Crownless will appear on your map within the ruins north of Penitent's End.

4. Resource Management:

Remember that Nightmare Echoes utilize Enhanced Absorption charges, significantly boosting drop rates. Players receive only 15 charges weekly, so manage them carefully if farming for multiple characters.
