As the first licensed Killer to grace Dead by Daylight, The Shape, more commonly known as Michael Myers, embodies a relentless pursuit that strikes fear into the hearts of Survivors. Known for his ability to stalk his prey and build up his ferocity, The Shape eliminates players one by one, making him a terrifying presence on the map. This guide aims to equip players with the best builds for The Shape, covering both teachable and non-teachable perks, to maximize the potential of this iconic horror character.

Updated on January 13, 2025, by Siddarth Narasimman: Despite being one of the weaker killers in Dead by Daylight, Michael Myers remains a favorite among new players. Recent buffs in Patch 8.4.0 have bolstered his abilities, making him a more viable option. This is the perfect time for players to explore the most effective builds and add-ons for this legendary horror figure.

The Shape: Best Non-Teachable Build (2025)

For those without access to other Killers' perks, playing The Shape can be challenging but rewarding. This build utilizes Save the Best for Last to reduce chase times, while Sloppy Butcher passively slows down the game. Bitter Murmur and Hex: No One Escapes Death enhance the Killer's endgame capabilities, allowing for a devastating finish without extensive stalking.

  • Save the Best for Last (The Shape) – Hitting a non-Obsession Survivor grants a token, up to eight, reducing basic attack cooldown by 4% per token, up to 32%. Hitting the Obsession removes two tokens.
  • Hex: No One Escapes Death (General Perk) – Once the final generator is complete, all Survivors suffer from the Exposed status and gain a 4% Haste effect until the Hex Totem is cleansed.
  • Bitter Murmur (General Perk) – Each completed generator reveals the auras of nearby Survivors for 5 seconds, with a 10-second reveal for all Survivors after the last generator is completed.
  • Sloppy Butcher (General Perk) – Basic attacks inflict Mangled and Hemorrhage, slowing healing by 25% and causing regression if left unfinished.

The Shape: Best Build (2025)

This build emphasizes slowing down generator progress while providing a strong start, crucial for The Shape's limited early-game mobility. By focusing on a cluster of generators, The Shape can effectively monitor their progress and disrupt them using Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance and Deadlock. Lethal Pursuer aids in quickly locating Survivors for stalking, while Coup de Grâce enhances The Shape's ability to navigate loops.

  • Lethal Pursuer (The Nemesis) – At the start of the match, see all Survivors' auras for nine seconds, with an additional two seconds to all aura-reading effects.
  • Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance (The Artist) – Starts with four tokens; hooking a different Survivor on a Scourge Hook consumes a token and causes the generator with the most progress to lose 25% of its progress.
  • Deadlock (The Cenobite) – Completing a generator blocks the one with the most progress for 25 seconds, revealing it with a white aura.
  • Coup de Grâce (The Twins) – Gain two tokens per completed generator; use a token to increase lunge attack distance by 80%.

The Shape: Best Add-Ons (2025)

Memorial Flower

At common rarity, the Memorial Flower is a standout add-on for The Shape, boosting his stalking rate by 11% to enhance his slow stalking speed.

Dead Rabbit

Though it may seem counterintuitive, the Dead Rabbit's 25% reduction in Terror Radius during Evil Within II can be a game-changer. However, its increase in Evil Within III requires pairing with perks like Monitor and Abuse to manage the Terror Radius effectively.

J. Myers Memorial

As The Shape's second-best add-on, J. Myers Memorial offers a 25% increase in stalking gain rate, often used with the Tombstone Piece to mitigate the time needed to reach Evil Within III.

Hair Bow

Enhancing The Shape's threat during Evil Within III, the Hair Bow is a powerful add-on, especially when combined with J. Myers Memorial for consistent pressure across the map.

Tombstone Piece

Arguably The Shape's strongest add-on, the Tombstone Piece enables instant kills upon reaching Evil Within III, functioning like an old Memento Mori without the speed debuff associated with Judith's Tombstone.

Lock Of Hair

Adding 40 seconds to Evil Within III and increasing the stalking rate, the Lock of Hair is a strong choice, particularly when combined with Lethal Pursuer and J. Myers Memorial.

Fragrant Tuft of Hair

Despite a significant reduction in stalking rate, the Fragrant Tuft of Hair grants infinite Evil Within III, allowing for continuous insta-downs without the need for stalking.
