Suicide Squad Studio Reports More Downsizing

Rocksteady Studios, renowned for the Batman: Arkham series, experienced further layoffs following the disappointing performance of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. The game's underperformance, reported in February, initially resulted in a 50% reduction of the QA team in September. Recent reports indicate additional job cuts impacting programming and art teams, occurring near the end of 2024, just before the game's final update. Affected employees, speaking anonymously to Eurogamer, confirmed the layoffs, while Warner Bros. remains silent on the matter.

This follows earlier layoffs at WB Games Montreal, impacting QA staff who supported Suicide Squad's post-launch content. The final DLC, adding Deathstroke as a playable character, launched December 10th. With one final update planned for later this month, the future of Rocksteady remains uncertain following the considerable financial and personnel losses associated with Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. The game's underperformance casts a shadow on Rocksteady's otherwise impressive track record of critically acclaimed DC titles.
