A day before the January 16th, 2025 Switch 2 announcement, Pellen cryptically tweeted, "Something big is coming. Keep your eyes peeled tomorrow." This, coupled with the subsequent Switch 2 reveal and an April 2nd Direct announcement, fueled fan anticipation.

The real intrigue, however, lies in Pellen's subsequent profile picture change. He replaced it with an image of a slice of cake. A reverse image search revealed the picture originated from a Bon Appetit article featuring a Brooklyn Blackout Cake recipe, published on April 2nd, 2024.

Pellen also commented on the article with "mmmm tasty," prompting a flurry of fan comments connecting the cake to Silksong's potential April 2nd reveal. One fan even vowed to bake the cake if Silksong news materialized on that date. Another playfully noted the cake's "silky texture," drawing a parallel to the game's title.
