PlayStation Productions Unveils Ambitious Slate of Game Adaptations at CES 2025

PlayStation Productions made a splash at CES 2025, announcing a significant expansion of its video game adaptation pipeline. The January 7th presentation revealed several projects slated for release in 2025 and beyond.

New Adaptations Announced:

  • Ghost of Tsushima: Legends Anime Series: A new anime series based on Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, a co-op mode from the popular game, is in the works, a collaboration between Crunchyroll and Aniplex. Directed by Takanobu Mizumo, with story composition by Gen Urobuchi, and music by Sony Music, it's set for an exclusive Crunchyroll premiere in 2027.

  • Horizon Zero Dawn and Helldivers 2 Films: Feature films based on Horizon Zero Dawn (produced by Sony Pictures) and Helldivers 2 (produced by Columbia Pictures) are officially in development, though details remain scarce.

Past Successes and Future Projects:

PlayStation Productions, established in 2019, has already delivered successful adaptations, including the Uncharted film (2022) starring Tom Holland and the Gran Turismo film (2023). The Twisted Metal series (2023) on Peacock completed its second season in late 2024, with a release date yet to be announced.

Beyond the CES announcements, PlayStation Productions continues work on film adaptations of Days Gone and a sequel to the Uncharted film, as well as a God of War TV series.
