Nintendo Denies Switch 2 Showcase Rumors for American Hardware Brand Genki
Nintendo Denies Genki's Switch 2 Showcase Claims
Nintendo has officially refuted claims made by Genki, an American accessory manufacturer, regarding a purported Nintendo Switch 2 prototype showcased at CES 2025. Both CNET Japan and the Sankei newspaper reported Nintendo's statement that the images and videos circulating are not official. The company explicitly denied providing Genki with any Switch 2 hardware.
Genki, known for its gaming accessories including controllers and SSDs, generated significant buzz at CES 2025 by displaying what it claimed was a 3D-printed model of the Switch 2. The company also reportedly shared alleged release date information with attendees and journalists. Their website even features a dedicated page for upcoming Switch 2 accessories, complete with a detailed animated mockup.
This contradicts Nintendo's official silence on the Switch 2's specifics, beyond the confirmed backwards compatibility with Switch 1 games. While Nintendo has promised future announcements, the Genki incident may accelerate the official unveiling of the next-generation console.
