Leaked Specs Point to Nvidia's Next-Gen GPU Domination
Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090: 32GB GDDR7 Memory and 575W Power Draw
Leaked information suggests Nvidia's upcoming GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card will feature a substantial 32GB of GDDR7 video memory – double that of the anticipated RTX 5080 and 5070 Ti. This powerful card will, however, demand a significant 575W power supply. The official unveiling of the RTX 50 series, including the RTX 5090, is scheduled for Nvidia's CES 2025 keynote on January 6th.
The RTX 50 series, codenamed Blackwell, represents Nvidia's next-generation graphics card lineup, arriving over two years after the RTX 40 series launch. Building upon its predecessor, the RTX 50 series will leverage proprietary Tensor Cores for AI processing, alongside features like DLSS upscaling, ray tracing, and PCIe 5.0 support (on compatible motherboards). This new generation will replace the RTX 40 series (some models of which, like the RTX 4090D and RTX 4070, have been discontinued) and compete directly with AMD's Radeon RX 9000 series and Intel's Battlemage GPUs.
Pre-CES leaks, initially reported by VideoCardz, showcased Inno3D's iChill X3 RTX 5090. This triple-fan card, occupying over three expansion slots, confirms the 32GB GDDR7 memory and the substantial 575W power draw – a considerable jump from the RTX 4090's 450W.
The RTX 5090: High Memory, High Cost
Key features of the RTX 5090, according to Inno3D, include:
- 32GB GDDR7 video memory (double the expected capacity of the RTX 5080 and 5070 Ti).
- A 575W power draw, necessitating a robust power supply.
Nvidia's official announcement at CES on January 6th will confirm these specifications and pricing. While the performance potential is impressive, the RTX 5090 is expected to carry a premium price tag, potentially starting at $1,999 or higher. The RTX 50 series will utilize a 16-pin power connector, though adapters will be provided.
The remaining RTX 50 series cards (RTX 5080 and RTX 5070 Ti) will also be revealed during Nvidia's CES keynote. The arrival of this new generation promises significant advancements, but the ultimate consumer reception remains to be seen.
