Nintendo’s extensive history spanning over a century will soon be showcased at the newly constructed Nintendo Museum in Kyoto, Japan, set to open on October 2, 2024. Legendary game designer and Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto recently provided a preview of the museum’s exhibits in a video tour on YouTube, highlighting the company's vast collection of memorabilia and iconic products that formed one of the most prominent brands in video game history.

The Nintendo Museum was built on the site of the original factory where Nintendo initially produced its Hanafuda playing cards, back in 1889. With the new contemporary two-story museum, Nintendo presents fans a narrative of its heritage and early years. Visitors can anticipate a thorough tour of Nintendo's entire history, with a Mario-themed plaza greeting guests at the entrance.

Miyamoto’s preview tour began with a display of Nintendo’s extensive product line spanning decades. From items like board games, domino and chess sets, and RC cars, to early video game consoles such as the Color TV-Game systems from the 1970s. Visitors can also see a variety of video game accessories as well as products that video game enthusiasts might not typically connect Nintendo with, like a baby stroller called "Mamaberica."

Specifically, one exhibit features the Famicom and NES systems, a landmark and pivotal era of Nintendo, along with a showing of classic games and accessories from every region Nintendo operated in. Visitors will also witness the progression of cherished franchises like Super Mario and The Legend of Zelda.

The Nintendo Uji Museum also houses a large interactive zone, including several giant screens that visitors can use with smart devices. Here, fans can play classic Nintendo titles like the Super Mario Bros. arcade game. From its origins making playing cards to becoming a household name in the gaming industry, the Nintendo museum opens its doors and brings more "smiles" with the grand opening on October 2.
