Matajuegos' surrealist documentary game, Atuel, is launching on PC and Android later this year! Pre-registration is now open on Steam, with a Google Play listing expected soon.

Originally released on itch.io in September 2022, Atuel quickly gained recognition for its unique blend of documentary storytelling, experimental gameplay, and breathtaking visuals. Exploring Atuel: A Documentary Game Experience

Atuel immerses players in the stunning yet climate-change-affected Atuel River Valley in Argentina. It's less a traditional game and more a transformative experience. Players shapeshift into various animals and elements within the ecosystem, becoming integral parts of the landscape. One moment you're soaring as a bird, the next you're flowing as the river itself.

The game incorporates real-life interviews with historians, biologists, geologists, and local residents, providing insightful perspectives on the valley's history, current state, and future under the shadow of climate change. Matajuegos collaborated with The 12.01 Project, an international documentary team, to bring these stories to life.

The game's visuals are truly captivating, drawing inspiration from the Cuyo desert to create an almost otherworldly atmosphere.

While Android pre-registration is pending, you can visit the Steam page or official website for more information. The mobile version will feature localization in seven languages and full controller support.
